7. Fight Toenail Fungus

fungal nail infection

Instead of discarding used tea bags, you can use them to treat toenail fungus. The tannins in tea help kill the fungi responsible for fungal infections, while its antibiotic and astringent properties relieve symptoms like burning sensations, swelling and skin irritation.

  1. Chill some used tea bags in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Put the cold tea bags on the affected toenails for 15 minutes.
  3. Use this remedy 2 or 3 times daily until the infection clears up completely.

8. Exfoliate Your Skin

used tea bags to exfoliate skin

The slight rough texture of the contents of used tea bags is great for exfoliating your skin. This helps get rid of dead skin cells, dirt and other impurities.

Plus, its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help soothe your skin and give your skin an incredible glow.

  1. Transfer the contents of 1 or 2 used green tea bags into a bowl.
  2. Add a little olive oil and honey to make a paste.
  3. Apply it on your face and neck and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Gently rub off the paste using circular motions.
  5. Rinse off your skin with warm water.
  6. Use this facial scrub once or twice a week.

  1. I have used the used teabags to help with my cold sore. Firstly allow the teabag to cool down then put on to the cold sore ,do this 3 /4 times a day for about 4 days. The cold sore will go away.

    1. You can also use Vaseline. Just apply it like Chapstick. It won’t go away right then and there, but it will keep it from getting worse. I use it Everytime I feel one coming on. Mine get all over my lips, they swell they get itchy and sometimes bleed(well, they used too) since I started using Vaseline I havent had to go through that…….

I’m aware this is about used tea bags, but I just wanted to through it out there incase someone needs it.

  2. You can also put a damp tea bag on a cold sore. The tannin acid will help in healing and also sooth the area.

    1. I attempted to save used tea bags one time but they would mold over and I had to throw them out – putting them in the freezer might just be the trick thanks
