9. Parsley

Parsley helps draw out toxic materials from eyelid cysts, in turn promoting healing. It also acts as a mild antibacterial agent that fights infection.

  1. Place a handful of fresh parsley in a small bowl.
  2. Pour a cup of boiling water over it and allow the water to cool.
  3. Dip a clean washcloth in this water and wring out the excess.
  4. Place this warm, moist cloth over the affected area for 15 minutes.
  5. Follow this remedy about 3 times a day for a week.

10. Maintain Personal Hygiene

maintain personal hygiene

When you have an eyelid cyst, maintaining personal hygiene can promote quick recovery. It will also help fight off infection.

  • Wash your eyelids regularly with a little baby shampoo mixed in warm water.
  • Do not share towels or handkerchiefs with anyone, including family members.
  • Wash your hands and fingers thoroughly before touching your eyes.
  • Keep the area around your eyes clean at all times.
  • Try your best not to touch or rub your eyes.
  • If you use cosmetics, stop using them, for some time. Avoid using lenses as well.
  • Avoid sharing your eye makeup, even with those closest to you.
  • Replace eye makeup, especially mascara, at least every 6 months.
  • Protect your eyes from dust and air pollution.
  • Do not squeeze or scratch the cyst. Let it open on its own.

  1. I had troubles for years with a stye in my eye and finally I just got a bowl of hot water, put lots of salt in it and whisked it around, dipped a paper towel in it and while standing over the kitchen sink I dabbled my eye with it several times. I let the salt just dry there till my next shower. And a couple of more times when I would feel it coming back I repeated all of that. Since then I have never once had trouble with a stye in my eye.

    1. Thank God for this comment- or who posted this about the salt and hot water, I used cotton balls with sanitized hands along with a salicylic acid wash of the eye area the morning after. It instantly went away and just to think I had suffered with this for 3 long days.Very Helpful God Bless.

  2. So, I’ll share the method I’ve used to quickly get rid of these cysts. I do the hot compress as suggested above…as hot as my skin will tolerate for 5 minutes or so, re-wetting the washcloth frequently to maintain the temperature. Then dry the area and apply Absorbine Jr. using a Q-tip directly to the bump. Put a few swabs on it but try to avoid getting it in the eye obviously. Do this 2-3 times a day until its gone. The Absorbine Jr. is designed to penetrate the skin and while its usually used for muscle aches it also has anti-septic properties. Works for me…hopefully will for you to!

  3. My daughter had this case since she was 5 months old. And as a parent, it was too disappointing and frustrating to see her experiencing this one after the other it just go around her (both eyes). At the age of 3 we have already consulted 4 doctors, and all of them are saying the same. Eventually, one in her right eye didn’t go, it keeps on growing and the doctor finally concluded to have it operated. After just 2 months there goes the cyst again. Then we decided to bring her back to my home town in Philippines and have her checked in American eye center. To our surprise, the doctor said no medication is needed to cure Chalazion…she recommended the use of Flax seed oil, to be mixed in her food or drinks (milk, juice or water). The idea is that…chalazions are caused by a blocked oil glands, and flax seed oil will help in regulating, circulating and softening those glands. I got one from a healthy option shops and tried using it. We have consumed 1 bottle of flax seed oil since February till now and no chalazions showed up again. And so far the figure of her eyes becomes normal. Hope this helps.

    1. thank for your share. It can help me. I also had chalazion since 4 days and its non paining but may be initial so not paining.

  4. Phew….I got one of these and I was freaking out wondering what it was and now I find out it’s just a blocked gland.

I think I get this because I got to the gym and run for 1 hour, I sweat a lot and in the morning I had nothing and by 22h, I had one large enough to touch and I’m glad it’s so simple to treat, I’ll be trying to hot compress treatment tonight to see what happens.

  5. I would like to comment that I had mine from november to early february, I felt desperate as I didn’t think much of it at first, but when I realized it was a chalazion it was too late for preventive medicines.( It was ugly, but not bothering eyesight) Also I am pregnant so I looked it up and read that I wouldn’t be helped because of this. I read last week about people recommending epsom salt,-> magnesium sulfate. I got a kilo for 4,50 euro on a dutch pharmacy website. And oh wow after 5 days of giving my eye a eye bath with it. (cup over eye) I saw it turn smaller, I took pictures thinking it might be in my mind. But after 5 days it is alomst gone, I really recommend it. I expected a head forming or some discharge to come out, but it is going without any of that. goodluck

  6. for a warm compress: I use “Hot Hands” wrapped in a bandana & tied around my head to hold it over my eye for approx 15 minutes, then gently massage the area.
if and when nothing helps and a hard lump cyst remains, I have an eye surgeon remove it.

jalapeno Pepper just burn the tip for few minutes till it gets black and put it on the cyst for few minutes do this for couple of days it should go away forever.

I also like the hot water and salt (sea salt) compress

just boil on egg and use that as hot compress it will stay warm for long time

  8. Just want to share my experience with Castor oil and turmeric. I used warm compresses for over a week with not much results. Then one night I mixed turmeric and castor oil and the next day I noticed my eyelid was swollen more than before. I omitted turmeric and instead did warm compresses and then applied castor oil before going to bed. The next morning my chalazion was much smaller. Go day I didnt get a chance to go warm compresses but did the castor oil application at night before sleep. The next morning, it was only 1/4th left and hardly noticeable. Swelling was also gone.
Castor oil worked best for me without any warm compresses.
