Chickenpox is caused by the virus known as varicella-zoster and spreads easily from one person to another.

This disease can spread through air or with saliva, mucus, or fluid from blisters of an infected individual. The infected person is contagious from a day or two before the rashes appear, until the time when all the blisters have dried.

It usually takes 10-21 days for the symptoms to develop the symptoms after being exposed to the virus. The most common symptoms are an itchy rash and red spots or blisters all over the body.

Other symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, and aching muscles. Because most people get vaccinated against chickenpox, it is most common among newborn babies, followed by pregnant women and people with weak immune systems.

Usually, the worst symptoms of chickenpox subside in about two weeks. However, you can try some natural remedies to alleviate some of the symptoms and get relief from itching as the virus takes its course.

    1. The problem Nany has is one of the pituitary gland. He should have this checked out and have access to the (simple) treatment to cure it.

      1. Chicken pox is not a localized health problem, but rather, when left untreated, becomes systemic cancer. The most crucial symptoms which start in childhood are ; coughs, colds, cold sores, mucous, problems in digesting foods, warts; headaches ……………….CHRONIC FATIGUE.

Doctors who fail to detect such a serious condition should immediately be seen as a danger to children’s health / life. A list of such people should be posted in such a way, that they are seen for what they are……………GREEDY, SELF-SERVING CON-MEN.

        1. This comment is rubbish. It’s scare mongering. And if true, most of the population would have cancer by now – and I’m talking about generations here. This is not the case. Chicken pox is normal and nothing to be alarmed about. Having chicken pox also prevents the adult from being susceptible to shingles in later life. The symptoms should be treated with natural, relieving methods for the itching and the healing of the vesicles.

Daily I used to take valcivir 500mg for the first 5 days & then I am using cefixime tablets for 7 days. Daily before bath I applied tender neem leaves paste(leaves, turmeric powder & salt) for face & body. For head the same paste with out salt. 20. My 8 month old son has chicken pox. He’s covered head to toe but the ones round his face and ears are really bothering him a lot and trying to stop a baby from fiddling with it is a nightmare. He’s too young to take the antihistamines so all I have is calamine lotion and cold compresses that I can use which don’t work that well. He was so unsettled last night it was awful to see. I’m going to try the vinegar bath or the baking soda. Hopefully he’ll have a better nights sleep tonight
